Would you like to spend your vacation with your dog in Dortmund? At your 4-star Hotel Esplanade in Dortmund, dogs are very welcome! Centrally located and close to a park, we offer the perfect starting point for walks with your four-legged companion in the Ruhr area.
We welcome you and your loyal companion in our individually designed rooms with a small dog setup: to help your dog settle in, a little treat awaits. You will also receive a dog sign that you can place on the outside of your room door if you need to leave your pet alone for a short time. We charge just €5.00 per night for dogs when you book directly with us. If you book via a platform, a fee of €15.00 per night applies.
We are equipped with premium products from the brand Hunter. Your dog will be provided with a dog bed, blanket, food and water bowls, as well as a cozy throw.

Explore Dortmund with your dog
Just 15 minutes from Esplanade Dortmund, you can explore the Bolmke nature reserve. Take a deep breath and let your mind unwind. Here, your dog can enjoy the unspoiled nature of the Emscher floodplains. This nature reserve, located close to the city south of the Westfalenstadion, is a popular green retreat in the Ruhr region, featuring a well-developed network of paths – ideal for dog owners.
Dortmund shows its green side with Rombergpark, Westfalenpark, and Phoenix West – all welcoming destinations for visitors with dogs. Phoenix Lake, an artificial lake in the Hörde district, offers a 3.2 km walking route around the water, where you can enjoy views of Dortmund’s skyline from the new Kaiserberg. Rombergpark in southern Dortmund is also worth a visit, with expansive green spaces and botanical highlights featuring plants from around the world. Westfalenpark offers a vibrant mix of events, relaxation, and beautiful walking paths. Its large green areas and impressive plant life make it perfect for a long walk with your four-legged companion.
Dogs on a leash are also welcome in Dortmund’s city center. You’ll find dog waste bags available in many places should you need them. In addition, there are several designated off-leash areas, some of which are fenced, allowing your dog to run and play freely.
